Design Challenge

How might I train Gemini to mimic a user's email writing style and to make composing emails faster and easier?

SWOT Analysis

To identify the most impactful area for improvement, I conducted a SWOT analysis of the leading email clients: Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook. This analysis helped me pinpoint key strengths and weaknesses, ultimately guiding the direction of my design solution.

Reviewing Google Gemini

I really like the little animation that shows Gemini is thinking (microinteraction loading), but it would be even better if I could change my question while Gemini is working on an answer.

Future Possibilities

Smart Summarization: For lengthy email threads, Gemini can offer summaries that highlight key points and decisions made.
Actionable Insights: Gemini can analyze emails and suggest follow-up tasks or calendar events based on the content.
Multilingual Support: Gemini can translate emails on the fly, allowing seamless communication with international contacts.

Retrospective

For this project, I was inspired by Gmail's focus on clarity and ease of use. Given this, I tried to prioritize creating an unambiguous user flow. I also wanted to introduce an element of fun to make the interaction more engaging. Given more time and resources, I would have loved to conduct user testing to validate my design choices and ensure they effectively balanced clarity, usability, and enjoyment.
